DM-RTU/TCP: Simple integration of MODBUS RTU and MODBUS TCP in building automation
We are adding the new DM-RTU/TCP communication converter to the AMiT Automation portfolio. This device facilitates the connection of devices communicating via MODBUS RTU on an RS485 network with systems using MODBUS TCP on an Ethernet network.
In building technology older and newer equipment often coexist including RS485 serial lines, Ethernet infrastructure, control systems, meters, controllers and SCADA visualisation tools. DM-RTU/TCP helps to connect these different systems without the need for major changes to the entire installation.
Depending on the selected settings the converter can be used to connect a MODBUS RTU slave device to a MODBUS TCP master control system or conversely – to connect a MODBUS TCP slave device to a system communicating via MODBUS RTU.
In addition to the MODBUS RTU/MODBUS TCP conversion itself, the DM-RTU/TCP can also operate as a virtual serial port for a PC. Devices on the RS485 bus can thus be accessed by a computer via Ethernet as an additional COM port. The converter can also be used to expand the number of control system serial interfaces via an Ethernet network, for example when connecting a remote RS485 line.
Configuration is handled via the integrated web interface. This allows you to set communication parameters, run diagnostics, back up and restore the configuration and remotely restart the device.
