AMiT DataDock – cloud service for control systems

AMiT DataDock is a cloud solution for secure remote connection to AMiT Automation control systems gathering and managing operational data from anywhere in the world – with fully automated TLS/SSL communication security.

Concept and architecture

• A cloud platform accessible from a common web browser designed for long-term operation and remote technology management.
• The control system acts as a secure endpoint through which traffic is routed to DataDock with the ability to read and write selected values.
• Automatically-generated certificates for encrypted TLS/SSL communication between the control system DataDock and the user—no need for manual certificate management on the customer’s side.
• Regular automatic renewal and rotation of certificates, so that the connection remains secure in the long term without the administrator having to monitor the validity of certificates or plan their replacement.
• Encrypted data transfer between the technology and the user with server identity verification using a TLS/SSL certificate also suitable for deployment in critical infrastructure environments.
• All channels for communication with control systems use encrypted connections with certificates managed and operated directly by the DataDock cloud service.

• An easy-to-use web interface for monitoring live data from control systems including the ability to read and write selected values.
• Quick and easy connection of AMiT Automation control systems including secure access settings from the DetStudio environment.
• Archiving of operating data with the option to select periods, ranges and subsequent filtering and display of stored values in a table.
• Organize projects into folders for easy navigation in larger installations and for clarity in setting permissions.
• All communication between the control system and the cloud is encrypted with strict access control.
• Assigning users to projects, folders and control systems based on their role in the organization.
• Clear structure of the DataDock environment: devices, folders, archives, users—all accessible from one place.

Data processing

• Option of secure data access for external services for further advanced evaluation, reporting or integration into higher-level management systems.
• Support for scenarios where third parties apply their own algorithms to data – from statistical evaluation and optimization models to AI and machine learning.
• Thanks to clearly defined API permissions and controlled third-party access users always have full control over who works with their data and for what purposes it is used.

DataDock can be ordered in Start mode free of charge. This gives you the option of connecting up to 5 Generation 2E+ control systems. In addition we will add the following for each control system:

• processing of up to 5 variables
• up to 5 archives (depth of 1 month)
